Overview
The new building of La Plana Market has the triangular shape of the plot, so it has three facades with a very different vocation for each of the sides of the triangle.
The project understands the building as a single commercial center; hence, there is a single façade that shares the establishments of the market as well as of the Lidl supermarket. On the main street the large double height is closed with a curtain covering the main entrance. The rest of the facades are covered with architectural concrete panels hiding the interior by creating a horizontal division. The lower part will be treated as a vertical garden, hereby continuing to the green space of the street. The lower logistic levels functionally prepared with loading and unloading sections and parking lots, is accessible from the passage, in a withdrawn area respecting the main facade and the pedestrian accesses.
The market will occupy the first level, taking advantage of the height of the roof with skylights that will give a general light. The triangular shape of the market fuses functionality and form, creating a balanced permeable connection between the subterranean parking area, public space and supermarket on the ground floor, as well as the market place, stores and gastronomic venues on the first floor.
