Overview

UTE BIG+MIAS win competition to transform Palau del Vestit of Fira Innovation Hub.

The winning proposal is scheduled to begin construction in early 2026. Completion is expected by 2029, coinciding with the centenary of Barcelona’s 1929 International Exhibition.

The design envisions the entire roof covered with orthogonally arranged photovoltaic modules, precisely oriented north-south. These modules not only generate energy but also define the spaces beneath in a flexible, three-storey structure surrounded by public gardens that harmoniously blend with Catalan modernism. A new façade along Gran Via will maximize natural light and reinforce the building’s urban presence. This project represents one of the most significant architectural interventions shaping the future of Barcelona.
