Urban Dance Event at the MIAS Architects’ exhibition ‘The Origin of the Ideas’ in Banyoles

Dancers performed ‘Architecture, polyphony, and urban dance’ at the Monastery of ‘Sant Esteve’ de Banyoles, part of MIAS Architects’ exhibition ‘The Origin of the Ideas.’ The performance involved a dialogue with the spiritual cloister space, where glass panels showcased MIAS Architects’ award-winning urban planning project for Banyoles.

Tibidabo Welcome Square awarded at the 12th Yuanye Awards

Tibidabo Welcome Square received the award of merit at the Yuanye 2021 Awards in the International Architecture Public Building category.
The Yuanye International Design Competition was established in 2010 and is open to domestic and international universities, design professionals, and companies specializing in architecture, planning, landscape, and environmental art.

MIAS: The Making of Making (Architecture) exhibition opening at DHUB Barcelona Design Museum

The Government of Catalonia and the City Council of Barcelona have recognized the international career of MIAS Architects with the first monographic exhibition at the Museum of Design and Architecture of Barcelona, dedicated to a currently working firm.The exhibition analyses the design processes of the MIAS studio, founded by Josep Miàs in 2000.

‘Wrapping the Museum’ workshop

The workshop, in partnership with Riudebitlles Territori d’Art, utilized paper as the primary element for the interior intervention of the building. The collaboration between local artists and MIAS Architects aimed to create a collective artistic action by wallpapering the entire interior, walls, and ceilings. This innovative paper-based building served as a platform for future artistic and creative endeavors.

CUCADELLUM Funicular Opening Ceremony

MIAS Architects, in collaboration with Leitner Ropeways, has designed a technological, sustainable, and cutting-edge train with minimal environmental impact. Passengers can now enjoy the attraction in Barcelona. The new funicular will be the protagonist of a more sustainable mobility at Tibidabo, connecting the city and the mountain, and serving as the new entrance to the Amusement Park.

Ulldecona Social Housing under construction

The project, in collaboration with Coll-Leclerc Architects, is under construction. Ulldecona Social Housing is promoted by IMHAB (Municipal Institute of Housing and Rehabilitation) and is situated in a new residential expansion area of Barcelona ‘La Marina del Prat Vermell’. Apart from comprising 72 apartments, the project will also incorporate communal spaces, green roofs, bicycle parking, and community gardens.

‘MIAS at Centre Pompidou’ book launch

The catalogue shows the 42 models, 14 sketches and 18 engravings acquired by the Centre Pompidou for their permanent collection. In 2020 the Centre Pompidou has opened an exhibition dedicated to MIAS with a monographic room. The book includes texts by Peter Cook and Bob Sheil and it is published by Actar.

‘The building that was born from a window’ book launch

The book illustrates the expansion and rehabilitation of the Can Zariquiey Health Centre, which is located in Arenys de Munt, Spain. It aims to reflect on the healing space for mental illness and, at the same time, serve as a testament to a project that was carried out during times of crisis. The book, authored by Valentí Agustí and Josep Miàs, is sponsored by the Comunitat Terapèutica del Maresme.

The Centre Pompidou in Paris recognizes the trajectory of MIAS Architects for its international relevance with a monographic room. The museum has acquired 42 models, 14 drawings and 18 engravings for their Permanent Collection. The works will be on display at room 29 4th floor until 30th April 2021.
